Every window has custom-made solid wood plantation shutters painted to match the trim. The shutters add an elegant feel and privacy to the home, yet allow lots of light to come in both through the shutters and the many transom windows. The first floor bath, which the owners use as a powder room, has a new, custom mahogany vanity with marble top. The small attic on the bedroom level has been foam insulated to provide additional storage. New chair-height Kohler toilets were installed in all 3 baths. An Anderson "hurricane rated" French door was added to the porch. The updating described above was based on the design of a home priced well over $1 million and it works great in this home.
